The 2018 Domaine De Marcoux Chateauneuf-du-Pape promises to be exceptionally popular. Not only is it a brilliant gem, with complex aromas of cracked pepper and roses balancing bright, red fruits, but its famously delicious sister (vieille-vignes) goes unbottled this year.
There's no Vieilles Vignes bottling this year because of the mildew that plagued the region, but Marcoux's regular bottling is no slouch. The 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape has fantastic, complex aromas of cracked pepper, violets and roses, garrigue, cherries and raspberries. It's full-bodied and silky-textured, with plenty of length on the finish. Nicely done.
