2018 Goldeneye 'Gowan Creek' Pinot Noir Anderson Valley

$74.95

Goldeneye Winery was founded in 1996, years before the Pinot Noir boom that reshaped the landscape of California winemaking. It was in 1990, after fifteen years of making world-class Bordeaux-varietal wines, that Dan and Margaret Duckhorn formed the idea of expanding into Burgundy’s favorite varietal. Their vision for Goldeneye was simple, if not easy. They wanted to found a new winery that would make a terroir-inspired expression of California Pinot Noir equal in stature to the acclaimed Merlots they had pioneered at Duckhorn Vineyards. The Duckhorns believed that greatness would be found on the cool-climate edges of modern California viticulture, and quickly went to work in the Anderson Valley.

Precise and minerally, with hints of ripeness to the dark cherry and dried raspberry flavors, supported by rich acidity. Nuances of white pepper midpalate lead to a long finish that is richly spiced. Drink now through 2026. 1,309 cases made.
