2018 Hamel Family 'Isthmus' Proprietary Red Sonoma Valley

$89.95

The Hamel Family has a strong connection to Madison, with three generations of alums from the University of Wisconsin. The name of this wine could be a nod to their fellow Badgers, but it’s a Cabernet based blend that even Hawkeyes will enjoy. Dense and layered with juicy black fruit and incredible structure, this demands a long decant for early enjoyment. Time will reveal more of the integrated freshness and mineral vein running through the richness in this heady red.

Wine Enthusiast

From the Sonoma Valley-based producer's two estates, Hamel Family and Nun's Canyon, this blends a majority of Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Thick, herbal and tannic in its youth, it has complex tones of iron, crushed rock and elusively tart, tangy fruit at its core, strong and powerful in concentration and structure. Enjoy best from 2028 through 2038.
