Heir Apparent sells out easily because those in the know waste no time in locking it down. The sources behind it are kept carefully secret, but everyone has their guesses. We know the Oakville Cabernet comes from a Valley floor vineyard on hallowed ground, neighbored by PlumpJack, Groth & Silver Oak. And we know 2018 was a flawless growing season, which allowed plenty of hangtime for the grapes to develop more intense flavor and complexity than ever. This is a lush, memorable cab with pure Oakville character – you can’t beat that for the price!
Lots of red and black currants, dried tobacco, cedary herbs, and graphite notes emerge from the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville Heir Apparent. With medium to full-bodied richness, a round, supple, elegant texture, and beautiful balance, it’s another charming, certainly outstanding wine from this team with lots to love. It’s drinking nicely today, and I see no need to delay gratification. Nevertheless, it’s going to evolve for 10-12 years.
