2018 Heir Apparent Proprietary Red Napa Valley

$110.00

This masterful blend drinks well above its price class and seems determined to make a play for the throne with its arresting aromas and bold flavors. Balance is a big factor, and lively fruit joins gentle oak alongside soft tannins and tangy acidity. The top-secret sources behind this blend would add up to an astronomical price point, but if you don’t need to know the pedigree to recognize greatness, this “pleasure-bent yet classic” blend will more than satisfy. Approachable and food-friendly now, this is a royally good offering from Grand Napa.

The 2018 Red Blend Heir Apparent is also terrific. Based on 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, and the rest Malbec, it has a complex, up-front, medium to full-bodied style that carries lovely black cherry, redcurrant, new saddle leather, camphor, and tobacco-like aromas and flavors. Playing in the medium to full-bodied end of the spectrum, it has a wonderful sense of elegance, light yet present tannins, nicely integrated acidity, and a great finish. Enjoy this pleasure-bent yet classic, balanced red blend over the coming 10-15 years.
