2018 RAEN 'Sea Field Vineyard' Fort Ross-Seaview
RAEN is a recent addition to the Mondavi wine legacy. Fourth-generation vintners and brothers, Carlo and Dante Mondavi were inspired by their father Tim’s passion for Burgundy and sought to craft terroir-driven Pinot from Sonoma’s best vineyards. These are lasting wines with grace, elegance, and balance. This Sea-Field Sonoma Coast Pinot is an absolute knockout. We were amazed by its gripping seaweed salinity that’s refreshing as an ocean breeze. With accents of blood orange and wild strawberry, along with bracing minerality, it’s the floral tones that linger on the everlasting finish. Dive on in!
James Suckling
An extremely aromatic pinot with iodine undertones to the bright strawberry aromas and flavors. Some seaweed. It’s medium-to full-bodied with creamy tannins and an extremely long finish. From biodynamically grown grapes. Better after 2023.

The 2018 Pinot Noir Sea Field is not fully expressive today. The bouquet is promising, but the 2018 is much less forthcoming on the palate. It will be interesting to see if time in bottle helps things come together more fully, as the 2018 is pretty hard to read at this stage. Even so, it does appear to be rather light in structure and depth.

Pale to medium ruby, the 2018 Pinot Noir Sea Field Vineyard opens to delicate aromas of raspberries, red berries, rose petals, woodsmoke and graphite. The light to medium-bodied palate offers nuanced flavor layers in a bright, grainy frame with a long, lifted finish. 900 cases produced.
