Complexity without complication. The Sextant Wines 2018 Kamal brings our vineyard to your glass. It features range and depth, flowing with vine ripe strawberries and muddled rose petals. Hints of cedar and cigar box wood bring lifted layers. An inviting scuffle of dark plum, black currants and traces of granite like minerality join the gentle fray. The crushed-velvet tannins are well structured and give way to a long finish. 890 cases produced.
There's a pleasantly earthy character to the nose of this bottling, with redwood-bark, dried mushroom and dusty loam aromas surrounding the blackberry core. The palate grows even more layered, with flavors of coffee grounds, soy, mahogany and tobacco giving depth to the stewed fruits. MATT KETTMANN
