The dense, mineral-rich soils of Ambervale vineyard proved irresistible to the veteran producer behind Tarrawata (they also run Sloan Estate in Napa Valley and Chateau Le Bon Pasteur in Pomerol). Small, individual block batches and indigenous yeasts help capture the terroir and place this Cabernet solidly in the Barossa’s high country. A classic Cabernet by all accounts, it boasts plenty of currant and cassis along with forest floor, tobacco and violets. Evident tannins and a solid spine of acidity promise a nice, long evolution over the coming decade-plus.

Loads of black truffles and blackberries with some bark and pine-tree undertones. Some herbs, too. Full-bodied with juicy fruit and medium chewy tannins. Soft and juicy.

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Ambervale has plenty of classic Cabernet currant and cassis fruits as well as a complex underbelly of cedarwood, forest floor, tobacco, and violets. These all carry to a medium to full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon with beautiful purity of fruit, ripe and certainly present tannins, and a solid spine of acidity that's going to keep this evolving nicely for 10-15 years.
