2018 Venge Vineyards 'Scout's Honor' Red Napa Valley
This playful and exuberant blend is named in honor of the Venge’s dog Scout. Full bodied energetic and loyal to the core this Zinfandel blend always welcomes you home. Be greeted by ripe current, violet, and muscular tannin. This wine is a warm loving lick to the face.
Just over 40 years old, Kirk Venge has already established himself as an indispensible winemaker in the Napa Valley, gaining enviable critical acclaim for his no-holds-barred, ripe and plush Cabernet Sauvignon. We often say that Kirk’s wines should come with a hedonism warning label, or require some sort of permit. Kirk took over Venge Vineyards from his dad Nils in 2008, and has never looked back. He’s built an impressive consulting roster too, making wines for luminaries like B Cellars, Hunnicutt, Macauley, Bacio Divino, and Trespass.
Wine Enthusiast
This is a lively proprietary red wine made from 63% Zinfandel, 16% Charbono, 12% Petite Sirah and 9% Syrah. From many old-vine sites, it explodes in juicy plum, jammy blackberry and cherry, all wrapped in soft tannins. The oak adds a generous and rich vanilla tone.
