2019 Brendel 'Cooper's Reed' Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

$39.95 $49.95

"Brendel is a new label created by the team behind Heitz Cellars, in effect taking some of the niche varieties out of the Heitz portfolio and allowing that label to focus on classic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. There's a blended white that includes Sauvignon Blanc, Malvasia Bianco, Chardonnay and Fernao Pires, while the blended red draws from the Portuguese varieties that used to go into the occasional Heitz "Port." Even the two Cabernet Sauvignons in the lineup provide solid value in the context of Napa Valley. These wines were tasted in New York City with Carlton McCoy, MS, the group's CEO and now star of his own TV show, "Nomad," on CNN." - The Wine Advocate

The 2019 Cooper's Reed Cabernet Sauvignon includes fruit from young vines and high-vigor sites in St Helena, Rutherford and Calistoga. It's 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and 100% Napa Valley, not always the case for wines in this price range. It's minty, herbal and dusty, with cherries and tobacco joining in. Medium to full-bodied, it's bright, fresh and taut, with a crisp, slightly greenish edge to the long, racy finish. A lighter, more quaffable style of Cabernet Sauvignon, it will be interesting to see how it is accepted by the market. (JC)
