Weitz Vineyard is perched high above the Silverado Trail on the eastern Oakville Bench. It’s renowned for its red volcanic soils and excellent sun exposure. Carter Cellars transforms that winning terroir into a fruit-forward beauty with plush, silky tannins and lively natural acidity. There’s considerable depth to the layers here, and a little bottle age will go a long way to revealing them all. For now, give this big wine a few hours in the decanter before you dive on in.
More pure cassis, graphite, chalky minerality, and tobacco leaf notes emerge from the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Weitz Vineyard, a rich, concentrated, beautifully balanced yet powerful Cabernet from this estate. I love its purity of fruit, and it has nicely integrated acidity, plenty of tannins, and outstanding length. It's a serious, impressive 2019 that deserves 3-4 years of bottle age and will have 20-25 years of overall longevity.
