Micro-negociant, Olivier Richard, created the Lucien Raymond label as an homage to his grandfather, a winemaker in the Rhone who had apparently always harbored a secret desire to make great Sancerre. Richard sourced the fruit from a Biodyvin-certified grower with holdings across the region. This is a blend of parcels that takes full advantage of the three signature soil compositions in Sancerre, including the chalky Kimmeridgian limestone, stony limestone marl (caillotes), and flint-flecked clay (silex). On a larger scale, Olivier Richard works in partnership with a California-based wine exporter, Jeremy Meyer, to support the work of artisan-level wine producers committed to sustainable viticulture in France.
