Classy, spicy and complex, 2019 has proven to be a standout vintage for this Syrah from Rhone. Medium-bodied and elegant, it’s a nuanced showcase of spiced red and black fruit with ground pepper and floral notes. The palate is silky and seductive, the fruit well-balanced through the finish. As Dunnuck summed it up, “just a joy to drink.”
I loved the 2019 Crozes-Hermitage Les Meysonniers. This classy, spicy, already complex Crozes reveals a medium ruby/purple hue as well as textbook Northern Rhône notes of spiced red and black fruits, ground pepper, bouquet garni, and a touch of floral-like nuances. Medium-bodied, lightly textured, and elegant, it has plenty of classic 2019 fruit yet stays balanced and just a joy to drink.
