2019 Michel Magnien 'Les Cazetiers' Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru

(Net Item - no discounts apply)

Located in south of Dijon, the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation is the top village of the Côte de Nuits. In 1847, by royal order of King Louis Philippe, the name Chambertin was attached to Gevrey and officially became Gevrey-Chambertin. The word Cazetiers comes from Castel in the Middle Age, from which Castet, then Cazetiers, were derived. The term Castel is indicative of the geographical position of the climate within the village as the plot is located above Gevrey. There isn't much of this wine to go around. Get it ordered today and enjoy this 1er Cru with braised red meat. You won't regret it.

Frédéric Magnien is a fifth-generation winemaker from Morey-Saint-Denis, and Burgundy is the family’s lifeblood. He first learned winemaking from his father, Michel Magnien (of Domaine Michel Magnien), then Fred traveled to California and Australia to hone his talents before returning home and starting his own négociant domaine. Unlike many of the larger négociants (bottlers), Fred buys fruit—from organically farmed vineyards—rather than finished wine. His standards are maniacal. These are professionally made, vibrant, thoroughly modern expressions of Burgundy with great purity of fruit.
