2019 Owen Roe 'Sinister Hand' Red Blend Columbia Valley
The inspiration for this winning bottle comes from a local legend in County Cavan. Two families, deep in an ancestral feud over land, chose to settle the matter with a rowing competition across a lake. The first to touch the other side would win land and title. The O’Neills were falling behind at the end so, in a desperate bid, a crew member drew his sword, lopped off his own hand, and threw it to shore to claim “first touch.” There, now you have a twisted story to share when you pour your friends this spicy, savory blend of 57% Syrah, 18% Grenache, 18% Mourvedre, 5% White Rhone and 2% Cinsault. The nose is exuberant, the palate lively and juicy, and the character every bit as dark as the tale.
James Suckling
Blueberries, lavender, plum leaf, lemon zest and stones on the nose. It’s medium-to full-bodied with fine-grained tannins. Supple, juicy and fruity. Flavorful finish. Drink now.
