A true compliment of the winery’s ability to combine power with grace, the 2019 Investor is warm, rich, and inviting, with exuberant notes of dark blackberry, black cherry, blueberry cobbler, and dark plum, alongside spiced notes of cinnamon, clove, allspice and vanilla. Alluring notes of black pepper, graphite, and floral violet are interwoven with delicate savory notes of fresh thyme, lavender and wild sage. The plush mouthfeel is silky and inviting with round tannins that envelope the palate, leading to a long, mouthwatering finish with fresh acidity and vibrancy. Accompany alongside any dish to enliven any celebratory meal.
"Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars is unquestionably one of Napa Valley’s benchmark producers. At the now legendary “Spurrier Tasting” of ’76, this operation topped the world’s best – most notably the Bordeaux first growths – and sent shock waves through the wine world. It was the first time that an American winery had ever gone toe-to-toe with the Old World and delivered a haymaker, and the fact that the judges were French only made it sweeter. It was a turning point for the entire California wine industry. Now in their fifth decade, Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars has expanded their portfolio to include some fabulous whites to accompany their muscular Cabs. We wouldn’t expect anything less from the winery that changed it all. They’ve made a few changes internally as well... a partnership between Ste. Michelle Wine Estates and Marchesi Antinori proudly accepted the stewardship of Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars and its legacy in 2007, cinching their success for years to come."
Aromas of black and red currants, dried herbs, black licorice and figs. Medium-to full-bodied with velvety tannins. Juicy and fruity at the start, but lovely ground spice emerges through the long finish. Well-structured and harmonious. 39% merlot, 32% petit sirah, 19% cabernet sauvignon and 10% malbec. Best after 2025.
An unusual blend of 39% Merlot, 32% Petite Sirah, 19% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Malbec, SLW's 2019 The Investor features a rich array of fruit scents, ranging from cassis to raspberry and cherry. It's medium to full-bodied, framed by soft, silky, dusty tannins and finished off by hints of vanilla. It's a step up from the winery's basic Cabernet and Merlot, more accessible and nicely balanced, even if it lacks varietal signature.
