2019 Stringer Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain

$114.95

The medium to full bodied 2019 Howell Mountain Cabernet pours a nearly opaque deep red. Its bouquet explodes with cherry, anise and classic cedar. The pallet is lush and envelopes the mouth with red berry flavors and round tannins all framed by fresh acidity that ensures that this wine will age gracefully for years to come.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is a touch muted to begin, unfurling to reveal cedar and crushed rock scents, giving way to a core of blackcurrant jully, blueberry p8ie, and garrigue. The full-bodied palate has a taut structure of firm, grainy tannins and bold freshness supporting the youthful, crunchy black layers, finishing with great length and purity.

Sourced from Rocky Ridge Vineyard, Stringer's 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain features scents of dark loam, hints of pencil shavings, cassis and cherries on the nose. It's full-bodied, rich and textured but also bright and vibrant. That acidity gives it extra pop and persistence on the finish and should ensure a long evolution.

One of my favorites from Stinger Cellars is their 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain, which is all Cabernet (it’s a blend of Clone 191 and 337) brought up in 75% new barrels. Gorgeous blue fruits, violets, scorched earth, and tobacco define the bulk of the aromatics, and it’s medium to full-bodied, has good acidity, ripe yet present tannins, and a great finish. It should evolve for 15+ years if well stored.
