Dunnuck says “The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Vine Hill Ranch Vineyard is almost all Cabernet (there's 1% Petit Verdot) and comes from a single, rocky parcel in the vineyard. It has incredible purity in its cassis, spring flower, spicy oak, graphite, and subtle iron aromas and flavors. A singular wine in the lineup with its pure, focused, balanced, almost old school style, this medium to full-bodied, incredibly impressive 2019 has solid mid-palate density, ripe, velvety tannins, and a gorgeous finish."

Proprietor Tor Kenward and his winemaking team, led by Jeff Ames, have been crafting world-class wines at this eponymous estate from its inception. Tor’s 30+ years in the Napa wine business have afforded him relationships with the sort of growers who have lines behind golden velvet ropes begging for their grapes. It pays to know where the valley’s greatest terroirs are in the Napa Valley. Robert Mondavi sited his winery smack in the middle of To Kalon because he, father Cesare, and brother Peter all knew how great the grapes were for Charles Krug in the 1950s. Starting in the 1970s, Andy Beckstoffer began studying and acquiring the finest terroirs in the valley, and strongly advocating for vineyard designation. And of course Tor Kenward, as an executive for Beringer, knew which sites were the most powerful contributors to Beringer Private Reserve Cabernet. Tor has an insider’s knowledge and a rolodex that newcomers simply can’t buy. This is why the wines of TOR are so important to us, and why they demand your attention.

It's the purity of fruit, balance, and quality of the tannins that set this beauty apart. Hide bottles for 3-5 years and enjoy over the following two decades.

Complex aromas of plums, herbs and dried flowers. Currants, too. Full-bodied, yet so integrated and framed with ripe, firm tannins and long, long finish. Goes on for minutes. Real Napa cab! Drinkable now, but better after 2024.

Vinous

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Vine Hill Ranch Vineyard is glorious. Dark and expansive on the palate, the 2019 is just stunning right out of the gate. Plum, blackberry, sage, tobacco, leather, spice and incense all build over time. The Vine Hill Cabernet is not quite as sensual as the Pure Magic, but it more than makes up for that with its mysterious, beguiling personality. There is plenty of sheer allure, that much is obvious

2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Vine Hill Ranch features gentle sage and bay leaf nuances married to black cherries and dusty earth notes. Full-bodied, concentrated and rich, with a velvety texture, this terrific wine finishes long and elegant, with complex, savory notes of loam and clean compost lingering on the finish.
