2019 Vineyard 7 & 8 'Estate;' Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain
The 2019 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon follows the incredible 2018, and shows that two truly remarkable vintages can come from back-toback years. Starting with a very dark ruby red core, the nose explodes with red cherry compote, sweet black licorice, red currant, violet, white pepper and well integrated notes of oak. On the palate the wine shows a very dense core of focused red fruits, black pepper, five spice, crushed espresso bean, all while presenting a vibrant fresh lift, structured tension, and a finish that continues well after the last taste. This is a wine that will show very well with a quick decant upon release, and continue to tell further stories for a solid 20+ years to come. We can’t wait to share this amazing with with you!
With a winemaking dream team and a magic terroir near the summit of Spring Mountain, it’s no mystery why the wines of Vineyard 7 & 8 have won such acclaim. Vineyard 7 & 8 is named in recognition of proprietor Launny Steffens’ life and background in the world of finance. His appreciation for numbers and keen interest in numerology inspired 7 & 8: “Seven” being a lucky number in western culture, while “Eight” confers prosperity and happiness in eastern culture.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is another dense, powerful wine from this estate. Based on 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Spring Mountain, its dense purple/black hue is followed by a layered bouquet of smoky red and black fruits, iron, smoky oak, and chocolate. Full-bodied on the palate, it has a gorgeous mid-palate, building, fine-grained tannins, and a great finish. I followed this bottle for multiple days, and it gained complexity and elegance with air. Do your best to hide bottles for 3-5 years, and it’s going to have 20+ years of overall longevity.
