2020 Le Clos du Caillou 'Les Safres' Chateauneuf-du-Pape

$74.95

This wine shows a bright cherry color with grenade reflections. The nose is very delicate, with aromas of red berries, fresh fig liquor and roasted plums. The mouth is elegant, extremely fine, with a superb density and sensation of soft tannins. We find aromas of blackberries, blueberries and licorice. A very elegant wine, well-balanced showing a high ageing potential.

From the lieu-dit of Les Bédines, the 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Safres—a foudre-aged blend of 75% Grenache and 25% Mourvèdre—offers up oodles of vibrant red raspberries and cherries. Medium to full-bodied, it's silky in texture, with a long, mouthwatering finish.

The 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape Les Safres is a solid step up and checks in as 80% Grenache and 20% Mourvèdre. Gorgeous black fruits, black cherries, pepper, orange zest, and Provençal herb notes give way to a medium to full-bodied, balanced, impeccably put together 2020 that’s going to shine for 10-15 years.
