2020 Louis Latour Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru
This Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2020 reveals a pale gold hue. Round and generous, its nose reveals aromas of grilled almonds and vanilla. It presents a beautiful amplitude in the mouth - exposing a melted woody and mineral finale. Very good persistence. Although very flattering in its youth, this wine deserves a few years in the cellar to reach its peak.
With over 200 years of Burgundian history, there are few names that move the needle like Louis Latour. Family run since 1797, they have built a reputation for tradition and innovation that continues to set the gold standard today, striving to embed the specific conditions of terroir into each bottle they produce. Corton-Charlmagne is a vineyard where magic happens. Situated at the top of the hill of Corton, the limestone rich soil is the perfect home for these Chardonnay vines of legendary status, helping them express the true nature of their Burgundian roots in grand fashion. Simply put, it just doesn’t get much better than this.
A very cool and tight Corton Charlemagne with the intense spice, bold structure and steeliness that we expect from this appellation. Staggering concentration, which at this early stage makes the wine slightly austere, but all this gives it great aging potential. Fantastic integration of oak, fruit and mineral acidity at the amazing finish. Drinkable now, but best from 2024.
