2020 Mommessin ' Cote du Py' Morgon

$24.95

From the end of the tenth century we find trace of the vine in Morgon. An act dated 956 authenticates the sale by the sire of Beaujeu of a vineyard to a vassal. Morgon is one of the ten Beaujolais crus. It is located on the western slopes of the Saône, in the heart of the crus, in the northern part of the wine region.
The winter of 2019-2020 was the warmest in France since the beginning of the 20th century. There was no severe frost. The average temperature in Beaujolais over the first four months of the year is the mildest since 1947! Very beautiful grapes, very aromatic with heterogeneous volumes depending on the appellations and terroirs. Intense colors and beautiful acidity. The harvest begins on August 18 in Côte de Brouilly, 21 days ahead of 2019! They end on September 19. The vintage is marked by a great heterogeneity between the plots that have withstood the extreme weather conditions differently (lack of rain over the year and heat). Some lost a lot of juice, others resisted superbly! Several factors explain these differences: soil, exposure, age, standing yield, etc. Pure minerality and dense, velvety tannins, this is a gorgeous Gamay from Mommessin with a killer bouquet of black cherry and spice.
