2021 Carlisle 'Mancini Ranch' Zinfandel Russian River Valley
Electric medium-dark to dark ruby-purple. Certainly one of the darkest looking Zins we’ve ever produced. Explosive, perfumed aromas of spiced berry compote. There’s raspberry. There’s boysenberry. There’s loganberry. Heck, think of a berry and it’s here! On the palate, oh my! So well balanced with so much fruit but so incredibly fresh thanks to the above average acidity this site offers. Mancini keeps raising the bar!
Former software engineer Mike Officer started Carlisle in 1998 in his garage with the help of his wife Kendall and college buddy Jay Maddox, and he’s never looked back. Today, he is recognized along with Turley and Bedrock as a top artisan producer of Zinfandel, and we would place him in the same "enthusiast-garagiste-perfectionist" category as Russell Bevan, whose wines you've embraced in a huge way. Officer sells most of his wines to his mailing list and restaurants.
Vinous
The 2021 Zinfandel Mancini Ranch is outrageously beautiful. Dark, intense and wonderfully pliant, the 2021 is endowed with tremendous substance and textural weight. Blue/purplish fruit, lavender, spice, menthol and licorice build into the sumptuous finish. The 2021 is 85% Zinfandel and 15% mixed blacks. This is Carlisle and Mike Officer at their very best. The 2021 is quite simply otherworldly. Don't miss it
