2021 Dalla Valle Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
The first vintage, produced in 1986, established this wine as an instant Napa Valley classic. Select Cabernet Sauvignon is blended with a small percentage of Cabernet Franc and aged in no greater than 60% new French oak. For close to three decades, this standard-bearer has consistently shown impressive structure and velvety berry flavors.
Naoko Dalla Valle’s Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc vines, astride terra rossa soils high above the Silverado Trail in Oakville, are the stuff of myth. With a tantalizingly small amount of wine made, nearly all of their production is sold direct to their mailing list. Thankfully Bounty Hunter has been on board from the beginning, and each year we obtain a small parcel to offer you, including the rare and occasionally “perfect” Maya.

Based on 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc that was raised in 70% new oak, the Dalla Valle 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon sports a deep purple hue as well as a captivating nose of ripe blueberries, pure cassis, spring flowers, and chocolate, with this beautiful sense of minerality. Deep, rich, and concentrated, with a full-bodied mouthfeel, it has flawless tannins and a great finish. I know all the attention here goes to the smaller production Maya release, but I continue to beat the drums regarding the incredible quality of the classic Cabernet Sauvignon from this brilliant estate.
