The 2021 Collina is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petite Verdot. This wine presents a deep, alluring garnet hue, displaying a radiant core suggesting both youth and promise. The bouquet open opens poised elegance as ripe black cherries and cassis take the lead, accompanied by subtle fragrances of dark plums and blackberries, creating a harmonious symphony of dark fruit. Delicate notes of nuanced cedar and graphite add an alluring complexity to the aromatic profile. A refined entry of luscious black fruits-- blackberry, currants and a hint of dark cherry-- unfolds seamlessly, supported by finely integrated, supple tannins. The wine exhibits a brilliant balance, showcasing a vibrant acidity that harmonizes the rich fruit profile and adds a layer of freshness, a continued testament to the terroir and the strength of the 2021 vintage.

Naoko Dalla Valle’s Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc vines, astride terra rossa soils high above the Silverado Trail in Oakville, are the stuff of myth. With a tantalizingly small amount of wine made, nearly all of their production is sold direct to their mailing list. Thankfully Bounty Hunter has been on board from the beginning, and each year we obtain a small parcel to offer you, including the rare and occasionally “perfect” Maya.

The 2021 Collina Dalla Valle is a joyous wine. Bright, punchy and full of character, the 2021 is flat-out delicious. Crushed red berry fruit, cinnamon, cedar and sweet pipe tobacco coast from the glass. Vibrant acids lend tons of energy and freshness. Collina della Valle has been one of my favorite wines in this category. The 2021 is an absolute knockout. Best of all, it will drink well with minimal cellaring.
