2021 Grassi Family Vineyards 'Estate' Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
Crafted by Maayan Koschitzky, the 2021 Grassi Family Vineyards 'Estate' Cabernet Sauvignon is a classic full-bodied wine. Opaque in color, it exudes an elegant yet robust aroma of brambleberry, spice, and sage. The palate offers lush dark red berries, underscored by hints of minerality and mountain herbs. Fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity provide excellent balance, ensuring great aging potential. A distinct representation of Vaca Mountain foothill terroir, this wine can be enjoyed now through the next 15+ years.
In 1999, Mark and Jami Grassi bought a 14-acre property on Soda Canyon Road, just below the Atlas Peak AVA. It sits on an alluvial bench just above the valley floor south of the acclaimed, fertile Stags Leap District. Mark had established a custom construction business, but the seed of another life kept beckoning. That seed had been planted decades before, when Mark studied viticulture in college before pursuing a career in the construction industry. By 2000 the time was right. Mark dug the first test pits on the Grassi family’s Napa Valley land and set aside four acres for planting. Early on, key guidance and wisdom came from Mary Maher, vineyard manager for Harlan Estate.
