It’s not every day you’ll find a whiskey company that “gets it” and Barrell Craft Spirits is one such brand. Joe Beatrice and his team have carved out a niche as master blenders and craftspeople in an ever-changing and strikingly competitive landscape. With unprecedented access to a range of whiskeys from all over the world, they meticulously plan and marry flavors until they reach perfection. This new blended bourbon is an absolute stunner and a worthy follow-up to last year's release. The Barrell team blended this to perfection and allowed it to coalesce until bottling.
For some reason this 15-year hits a sweet spot with an intense complexity that is oft hidden. An abundance of stone fruit and oak meld with sweet Marzipan, vanilla, coconut, thyme, spice and tart red cherry. The palate is bold and offers recognizable flavors of Manuka honey, coffee, and an herbaceous tone that we liken to a hint of Amaro. There is just so much going on here, you'll want to sit and ponder all the wondrous flavors washing across your palate.
We have been really impressed with everything that Joe Beatrice and his team at Barrell Craft Spirits have released. And it’s clear that a panel of highly regarded judges felt the same. To be crowned the “Best Bourbon” at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition is a monumental feat for this rapidly growing, small batch whiskey company. When it is time for a new batch, the team sorts through casks through rigorous tasting to pick the collection of whiskeys that are showing best at that moment, regardless of age, and bottle them at cask strength. The result are completely unique batches of bourbon. We can attest that these one-of-a-kind batches are stunningly delicious. We think you’ll agree.
