- Wine Scouts, Your Personal Sommelier
If you want to try a wine from the man who has the cleanest cellar in Vergisson, which is itself one of the most beautiful villages in all of France, look no further than the cave of the diminutive and passionate Daniel Barraud. Barraud is the fourth-generation winemaker here since 1979, and since 2006 has been assisted by his son Julien.
The domaine is situated at the base of the limestone rock of Vergisson, and has holdings in Mâcon-Vergisson La Roche, St. Véran, and Pouilly-Fuissé, acquired mostly over the last century. These are rich, full-bodied, aromatic Chardonnays that are made with native yeasts, and bottled unfined and unfiltered after 10-14 months in new and used barriques.
Current Offerings From Barraud:
2013 Domaine Barraud 'En France' Pouilly-FuisseHigh tones of orchard fruits and citrus deliver a powerful combination of power and finesse, with enough verve to keep your palate at attention ‘til the last drop....
