Mount Brave was created from the former Chateau Potelle holdings near Lokoya on Mount Veeder. It was named for the bravery and hardiness of the Wappo indians, “The Brave Ones,” who originally inhabited these slopes, and the hardy European settlers who followed in the 19th century, planting grapevines and eventually making the two-day drive to San Francisco by oxcart to sell their wine.
Today this mountain winery is part of the Jackson Family’s Spire Collection, and all of their expertise in farming and winemaking are brought to bear to craft these superb, critically acclaimed reds. Chris Carpenter makes the wines to an impeccable standard.
