Silver Oak

CELEBRATING WINE-COUNTRY’S ENVIRONMENTAL PIONEERS ON THE FRONT LINES OF FIGHTING CLIMATE CHANGE

Silver Oak Oakville facility is LEED Platinum – the highest level of certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

SILVER OAK

When a 2006 fire destroyed Silver Oak’s historic Oakville winery, they embraced the disaster as an opportunity to build something better. Ten years later, they had the world’s first LEED Platinum winery for existing buildings, operations and maintenance. Silver Oak’s new Alexander Valley winery set an even higher bar, with a goal of net-zero water and energy. That building became the world’s first winery to hit LEED Platinum status for building, design and construction. It’s a certified “Living Building,” creating a positive impact for the environment and community alike, and it’s the only manufacturing facility of any kind to EVER receive that recognition. Agriculture is on the front lines of climate change, dealing with the effects first hand. The remarkable steps Silver Oak has taken will serve as blueprints for the future of an industry we count on in more ways than one!
