Spottswoode

SPOTTSWOODE

Founded by Mary Novak in 1982 and stewarded by second generation sisters, Beth Novak Milliken and Lindy Novak, Spottswoode Estate Vineyard & Winery crafts wines that authentically capture a sense of time (vintage) and place (vineyard). In 1985, decades before most winegrowers were thinking about the health of our natural environment, Mary transitioned to organic farming with the encouragement of founding winemaker, Tony Soter. In 1992, Spottswoode became one of the first vineyards in Napa Valley to earn CCOF organic certification.

More than just establishing Spottswoode as one of Napa Valley’s most environmentally conscious wineries, this and subsequent leadership in the environmental space has had an industry-wide impact. Spottswoode’s wines are recognized as among the finest in the world and their commitment to organic and biodynamic farming, in addition to their B Corp certification, IWCA Gold Membership, solar arrays, and more, has helped to shape the thinking of generations of California vintners—proving that being green is entirely compatible with greatness.
