1888 Chateau Laubade Brandy Armagnac
In 1888, the year our building was erected by shopkeeper Bartolomeo Semorile, Napa was still the Wild West. That year there was a lynching in St. Helena, a revenge killing over a murder outside a brothel called The Pink Saloon. In Armagnac, the summer of 1888 was rather dreary and rainy, but the vintage was saved by a brilliant September sun, the same one that shone on van Gogh as he painted in the wheat fields. Aged from 1888 to 1948 in Gascony black oak casks, and glass demijohns thereafter. Bottled in 2015, that sun has been captured and saved 127 years for you.
