La Venenosa Etnica Tutsi Lot #16 Bounty Hunter Private Selection

RatingNot Yet Rated

Tutsi (pronounced "Too-chee") is one of the rarest spirits on earth, this is not hyperbole, there are only a few 45 liter batches produced each year and we chose 3 lots for private bottlings. These are truly one-of-a-kind bottles, and among the greatest agave spirits we've had the pleasure of tasting. Traditionally produced by the Huichol people of northwest Jalisco this indigenous spirit was lost for around 25 years. One distiller in the town of Tatei Kie, Don Rafael Carrillo Pizano, has resurrected Tutsi and is the only maestro currently producing this native spirit. Wild agave Masparillo is harvested, roasted underground with a wood fire, milled by hand with mallets, and naturally fermented in a rock pit before being single distilled in a traditional Huichol still. Truly one of the greatest spirits we can offer you. The beads that adorn the bottle are handmade by local artisans and the colors change with each release.

The most subtle of these three picks this is a comely spirit that will wrap your palate in waves of wondrous flavors. Green notes of jalapeño and mint envelope your senses and slowly introduce a mosaic of minerality, citrus and cedar. There is an aromatic quality to this spirit that reminds us of recent rains on a slate walkway. It’s a wild spirit for the adventurous soul. But act quickly there are only a handful of bottles to go around!
