Perhaps the most underrated of all of the barrel programs out there, Old Forester’s signature rich, balanced, complex bourbon is always a dark horse for your favorite whiskey we chose that year. This is definitely on our list! Pick up a few of these and learn why!
Old Forester is America's only distillery that has been in uninterrupted production, and still in the hands of its founding family, since its inception in 1870. It was then that founder George Garvin Brown introduced Old Forester to the people of Louisville: the first Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey to be sold in sealed glass bottles to ensure quality. Today Old Forester, made by the Brown-Forman corporation, is the official Bourbon of the Kentucky Derby. Numerous blends - including an "original batch" recipe that recalls George Garvin Brown's original mashbill and methods - have spread the renown of this Bourbon standard-bearer.
