The aromatics lavish bright, ripe pear fruit and nutmeg across the olfactory. Fresh acidity and a hint of tart fruit show that this is a balanced spirit from the get-go; the palate is a pleasure, with a touch baked pear and beautiful minerality. This is elegant and true to the fruit from whence it comes. No one does Grappa quite like Poli, so it occurs to us that they’d be at the top of the game with other fruit distillates as well. The pears are of the famed Williams variety, known the world over as the perfect essence for pear spirits. The fruit is harvested in Südtirol at optimum maturity and distilled in Poli’s double-boiler (Bain Marie) pot still, which has been in use since 2000 and was built based on a specification dating to the beginning of the 16th Century in Strasbourg. For more than a century the Poli family have been working to produce the finest fruit spirits in all of Italy. They are a passionate family who live for the process of crafting amazing, artisan spirits, but above all they stress that their work is build on a foundation of love for the art of distillation, the world of science that makes it possible, and the people who enjoy their spirits without whom their greatness would not be realized.
Poli is an artisan distillery founded in 1898 by GioBatta Poli. For more than one century the Poli family have been working towards a goal: to let people understand and appreciate the hard work, the constancy but, above all, that kind of Love that goes into a bottle of Grappa, a total Love for our art, for our world, a Love without which no results would ever be achieved. The Poli distillery is situated in Schiavon, not far from Bassano del Grappa, in the heart of Veneto, the most renowned region for the production of grape marc distillate. Their Grappa is made from grape marc that come from grape cultivated in the Veneto foothills, an extraordinary natural amphitheatre stretching from the Dolomites to Venice.
