1999 Signatory 'Glenrothes' 16yr Single Malt Whisky
We were so enamored with the 1996 selection we made at Signatory's warehouse last year, we went back to the well. Glenrothes is one of our favorite malts in Scotland and there's a simple reason why. It is delicious. A soft, slightly honeyed tone from start to finish is well accented by hints of vanilla and lemon curd. This is the best bang-for-your-buck in Scotch today.
Signatory is among the top echelon of independent bottlers, as proprietor Andrew Symington has embraked on an endless quest for über rare, single malt Scotch. (A quest we can relate to well). Originally named "Signatory" because they wanted someone famous to sign their single cask bottlings. But, when their first cask (of '68 Glenlivet) was ready, they still hadn't found their signer and just went forward with Signatory. No worries - at least on our part. Their offerings need no endorsement; they speak well enough for themselves. We've had the opportunity to visit and taste on site, and will tell you, without reservation, the drams are remarkable.About Signatory
