 2013 Albada 'Old Vines' Garnacha

Do you have Châteauneuf taste and a Côtes du Rhône budget? Give this one a whirl; it’s from 50-100-year old Grenache vines in Calatayud, and its pretty raspberry and strawberry aromas and accents of black pepper will appeal to the Rhône hounds in your crew. A barbecue in winter? It’s been done.

Albada is the name of a traditional song that farmers sang in the Calatayud winegrowing region in Northeastern Spain. The wine label designer, Aitor Tellechea, chose the circular shape to symbolize perfection, forces in balance but also the life cycle, which is renewed each year. Albada uses low production, 50-year old Garnacha vines to make these wines.
