2014 Domaine Daniel Barraud 'Les Chataignieres' Pouilly-Fuissé
Who says white Burgundy has to cost a fortune? Situated near the village of Fuissé, this 60-year old parcel is planted at high altitude on limestone-flint soil. “Les Châtaigniers” means “The Chestnut Trees.” The wine has a pleasant minerality, is supple and round with a citrusy finish.

If you want to try a wine from the man who has the cleanest cellar in Vergisson, which is itself one of the most beautiful villages in all of France, look no further than the cave of the diminutive and passionate Daniel Barraud. Barraud is the fourth-generation winemaker here since 1979, and since 2006 has been assisted by his son Julien.
The domaine is situated at the base of the limestone rock of Vergisson, and has holdings in Mâcon-Vergisson La Roche, St. Véran, and Pouilly-Fuissé, acquired mostly over the last century. These are rich, full-bodied, aromatic Chardonnays that are made with native yeasts, and bottled unfined and unfiltered after 10-14 months in new and used barriques.About Barraud
