2013 Col d'Orcia 'Spezieri' Rosso Tuscany
In Renaissance Florence, Spezieri where the blenders of spices. This wine is named after this ancient art of blending. It is composed of the dusty, mineral Sangiovese (85%), married with another traditional Tuscan grape by the name of Ciliegiolo (15%), whose wines are packed with a bright, cherry-scented aromas and flavors.
"Spezieri" is a great way to experience the pleasure and aromas of a Brunello wine without the high price tag. Young-vine, Brunello-clone Sangiovese gives the flavors of leather, ripe strawberry, cocoa, and black cherry, while the Ciliegiolo offers up accents of red cherry and fresh herbs. Pair this with roast rack of pork with Italian herbs and be transported.
