2011 Collosorbo Brunello di Montalcino
Nothing exemplifies the open-knit, open-for-business, and drinkable style of the 2011 vintage in Brunello di Montalcino than this wine. Poached, brandied cherries, tobacco, cocoa, lawdy, all the musicians are assembled for this one. It's supple, elegant, and as forward as an Italian sailor on shore leave. It's so delicious now, why wait?

Born in the 8th century as Tenuta Sexta, the estate that would become Collosorbo was handed down from one Sienese family to another. Since the mid-1800s it has been under the ownership of the Ciacci family, but it wasn't until a hereditary division in 1995 that it became the wine estate as we currently know it. Twenty-three cultivated hectares (almost 57 acres) are mostly planted to Sangiovese, but they're embracing public taste and IGT rules with plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah to round out their portfolio. Here in Italy's grape basket, they know how to grow choice fruit.About Collosorbo
