2013 Damilano Barbera d'Asti

 2013 Damilano Barbera d'Asti

When it comes to Barbera, we look for softness. They are typically quite dark and full of cherry fruit, but the high acid and tannin in some wines can detract from their sex appeal. Not this one – it is right on point for your next bowl of pasta. Our notes: “Juicy. Red cherries. Cherry pits. Sottobosco (underbrush). Delicious.”

Damilano is one of the oldest family houses in Barolo, and their style strikes a nice balance between the traditional and modern. Their Baroli are raised in neutral, large-format casks for 2 years and then aged another 2 years in bottle before release.
