2014 Hourglass 'HGIII' Red Napa Valley
HG III is a wine Hourglass created in 2012 as a young-vine, early-drinking, restaurant-friendly red. In this vintage, winemaker Tony Biagi took fantastic young vine Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon from Hourglass' estate vineyard, and blended it with 13% Petite Sirah to yield a fresh, vibrant, drinkable red with notes of black cherries and blueberries, not to mention cola and cocoa powder. A great introduction to the Hourglass style.

Hourglass' Jeff Smith grew up in Napa Valley, and has always believed Napa wine should evolve into its own character and personality. Their inaugural release in 1997 threw the wine world quite the curve ball, as their estate Cabernet was thrown into a Napa Valley Wine Auction tasting in 2001, and was the ringer in a lineup that included Screaming Eagle, Bryant Family and Harlan. Let's just say Hourglass held its own, and was immediately catapulted into the Napa vinous stratosphere and was sold out within days of the tasting… before the wine was even for sale.About Hourglass
