2013 Martinelli Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast
When you consider what producers like Hirsch, Kistler, and Marcassin sell for - all producers working with Sonoma Coast fruit - this wine is a remarkable bargain. Billowy deep red fruit like wild huckleberries abound, along with notes like black tea, strawberries, and blood orange.
Our tasting this fall with Regina Martinelli, sales director for her family's 130-year-old winery, was a showstopper. She admitted that even though her winery makes 32 different wines, presenting 16 of them at once was a first for her. We're glad she did. Every one of these 16 Chardonnays, Pinots Noirs, Syrahs, and Zinfandels was outstanding. If we know anything about what we're doing, the following wines are going to turn you on. They have it all: brilliantly expressive fruit, concentration, and complexity. It's not often that a winery comes by and reminds us why we love wine so much. Put together a mixed case and experience the thrill for yourself. Most of these wines are sold only through the winery and are very hard to find.About Martinelli
