2013 Ramey Wine Cellars 'Platt Vineyard' Chardonnay Sonoma Coast

Avg. Rating:
(0)

Platt Vineyard is Ramey's coolest site, producing wine that is more focused and mineral driven than fruit driven. Parker loved its "elegant white currant, quince and stony notes with hints of apple blossom, lemon oil and a touch of orange rind." We flipped for its key lime pie aromas and bracing acidity. For Chardonnay true believers only!

David Ramey is one of the true aces of winemaking in California. While he had an established track record at Matanzas Creek, Chalk Hill and Dominus, we first got to know him well during his stint at Oakville’s Rudd Estate (where he helped take the project into the stratosphere with his work in the vineyard and cellar). His talent and vision caught the eye of the press in a big way, and we suspected it was only a matter of time before his own name appeared on a label. As Robert Parker advised, “Get on the bandwagon as David Ramey is on top of his game.” We couldn’t agree more.
