2014 Ramey Wine Cellars Syrah Sonoma Coast

Avg. Rating:
(0)

Some of this Syrah comes from the Alegría Vineyard in Healdsburg, originally planted when Benjamin Harrison was President, although Ramey's block of Syrah was planted in 1991. The fruit from three additional vineyards help make this "dense, powerful and bursting at the seams with explosive energy. Dried flowers, tobacco, mint, dried cherries, smoke and licorice." - Galloni

David Ramey is one of the true aces of winemaking in California. While he had an established track record at Matanzas Creek, Chalk Hill and Dominus, we first got to know him well during his stint at Oakville’s Rudd Estate (where he helped take the project into the stratosphere with his work in the vineyard and cellar). His talent and vision caught the eye of the press in a big way, and we suspected it was only a matter of time before his own name appeared on a label. As Robert Parker advised, “Get on the bandwagon as David Ramey is on top of his game.” We couldn’t agree more.
