Red Schooner 'Voyage 9' Red Wine of the World

Inky-dark and blossoming with aromas of violets, crushed blackcurrants, and sage, Red Schooner’s “Voyage 9” is a long, chocolaty, satisfying red that has us wanting to slap a Chateaubriand and a few plump, glistening chorizos on the grill. Treat yourself to a case and set sail for PLEASURE!

The Wagner family—the juggernaut behind Caymus, Mer Soleil, Conundrum, and more—is proud to release the latest incarnation of their old-vine Malbec grown in Argentina: Red Schooner. It’s been remarkable to see how quickly this wine has caught on with Caymus fans. There’s something about its blackberry and cassis liqueur aromas and fathomless richness that makes it so dang hard to put that glass down. At first blush, it seems curious that the Wagners would ship Malbec grapes from Mendoza, Argentina, to Napa to make into wine. But here’s the thing: you can’t find own-rooted, 100-year old Malbec vines in California. The concentration and plushness that emerges from these tiny berries is something to behold.
