A blend of several single malts from sources including Glenfarclas and Macallan, aged up to 30 years. Hints of pears layered with cherries and honey lead through a soft palate with classic sherry notes of raisin, vanilla and dried orange peel. The long and beautifully complex finish is masterful. We’ve seen many of the high-end whiskies lose their flair (and raise their prices), so it’s refreshing to taste a whisky of this caliber offered at a reasonable price.
When distinguished veterans of the spirits world Don Sutcliffe and Willie Phillips met over 25 years ago they immediately envisioned a future collaboration. Sutcliffe, a veteran of the wine and spirits wholesale industry and current managing director at Craft Distillers, and Phillips, the former managing director of iconic The Macallan distillery, stayed in touch throughout the years and developed a lasting friendship. Finally, in 2010, their early ambition was about to come to fruition. Combine unparalleled access to the finest barrels of whisky in Scotland and a dose of masterful blending and the result is nothing short of exquisite. The future remains bright for these two luminaries.
