In 2017, The Last Drop bottled six casks of an exceptional vintage blended Scotch Whisky (Release No. 10) but reserved one cask for extended maturation. In 2020, their inaugural rum, a potent Jamaican "overproof" Rum, gained global acclaim. Curious, they transferred the 1971 blend's remaining barrel into the rum-saturated cask. The nose entices with high ester notes, ripe bananas, mixed spice, and licorice. A two-year stint in an "overproof" ex-Jamaican Rum cask adds layers to the rich, smooth fruit flavors, featuring black treacle, caramelized pineapple, cinnamon, and a hint of fennel. Lingering oak spiciness and dark molasses rum influence create a supremely rounded mouthfeel, echoing 50 years of maturation and adventure in the memory.
