2017 Beringer 'Private Reserve' Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

$184.95

The best lots from the reserve vineyards come together in this small-production Private Reserve, demonstrating the full potential of Napa’s prized terroir. 2017 shows beautiful purity of fruit, with enticing aromas of currant and cassis. A big, rich palate is marked by dark chocolate flavors and extremely fine tannins that cruise to a great finish. Polished and sophisticated, this could cellar for two decades without batting an eyelash.

Over the past 141 years, Beringer has built its name on quality and consistency. The oldest continuously operating winery in Napa Valley (they used a federal license during Prohibition that allowed them to make wine for religious purposes), they’ve been instrumental in both the development of Napa’s international reputation while simultaneously serving as a critical link to its past.

This shows really beautiful purity of fruit with polish and sophistication. The currant and cassis aromas are so enticing and really reflect the name of the wine. Medium to full body. Extremely fine tannins. Shows a level of freshness and agility that caresses the palate. Delicate and beautiful. Mostly Howell Mountain. Drink or hold.

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve is brilliant, with a ripe, powerful style that’s going to age gracefully. Deep blackcurrants, dark chocolate, scorched earth, and graphite notes all emerge from this concentrated, powerful Cabernet that has ripe tannins, a big, rich mid-palate, and a great finish. It’s going to benefit from 3-5 years of bottle age and keep for upwards of two decades with no issues.
