2017 Tenuta Meraviglia Maestro di Cava Bolgheri Superiore
This exciting neighbor to the Bolgheri big boys is making waves along the Tuscan coast. A Bounty Hunter Exclusive, it is an enticing blend, which shows ripe fruit aromatics accented by graphite and earth and a well-structured palate with gripping tannins.
Oak – 24 months in large cask (1300 liters) from a French cooper named Gamba. This is noteworthy as they use unusually thick staves and the wood is very tightly grained. As such they do zero flaming or toasting, and simply steam them and air cure. The idea here is that it provides an exceptional environment for elevage but without adding overt barrel spice or woodiness to the wine. Gamba is gaining in popularity, and for Meraviglia, they are the best that money can buy
